Every day is a good day to take a hike in the Smokies. However, in June you’ll be treated to the beauty of rhodos around every corner and countless flora and fauna that have surfaced to enjoy the warmth of summer.

The Roaring Fork Motor Trail is located on the edge of downtown Gatlinburg and is one of the most stunning areas in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You’ll find historical structures to explore, cascades around every corner and hiking trails that lead to stunning waterfalls and views.

Ride the Rapids

Head over to the NOC Gatlinburg and friends there can get you set up for a fantastic experience of riding the rapids while you’re in town. They offer family friendly floats as well as more adventurous rides for the thrill seekers.

Experience the Beauty of Nighttime in the Smokies

If you’re in town on a new moon night with a clear sky then you’ll have the opportunity to experience the Smokies in a way that many miss. Head up to Clingmans Dome, the Foothills Parkway or take a night walk around Cades Cove and you’ll be treated to a star-filled sky, fireflies and you may even spot the Milky Way. Mix in the peacefulness of the middle of the night and it’s a Smoky Mountain experience that you won’t soon forget!

Walk the SkyBridge

If you haven’t made your way across the SkyBridge yet, you need to go ahead and check it off the list this June! The ride to the top, the views and the experience are all worthy of being on your Gatlinburg bucket list!

The Smokies are filled with waterfalls and you can find them roadside, on easy trails and on difficult treks in the park. Choose your adventure and start checking off viewing all of the waterfalls of the Smoky Mountains.

Bike Cades Cove

Walk it, drive it, bike it. It’s a different experience each time. You can bring your own bike or you can rent a bike at the shop next to the Cades Cove Campground Store.

Have a Picnic in the Park

A picnic in the park is a classic tradition in the Smokies. Pack a picnic or pick up one at a local restaurant and head into the national park for a relaxing afternoon. You can hike out to the Little Greenbrier Schoolhouse and the Walker Sisters Cabin as part of the adventure for the day. Then, have a cookout in the picnic area and play in the cool water. Most days the water at Metcalf Bottoms provides a safe experience with a low and calm flow.
